About Out To Protect

Our Mission

To support LGBTQ+ members of law enforcement and to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the LGBTQ+ community.

What We Do

We provide professional development for law enforcement, grants to law enforcement agencies and scholarships to LGBTQ+ people pursuing a law enforcement career.

Out To Protect Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. All donations made to Out To Protect are fully tax deductible. We are a recognized and registered public benefit corporation. Our goal is to use 90% or more of every donated dollar for providing professional development, grants, and scholarships for LGBT students wishing to attend a law enforcement academy in the United States.

We also support educational programs and projects that increase the awareness and success of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender law enforcement professionals.

Our History

Out To Protect Incorporated was formed in 2009 by Greg Miraglia, then CEO of COFBTB Publications and author of “Coming Out From Behind The Badge,” and “American Heroes Coming Out From Behind The Badge.”  In April of 2014, Coming Out From Behind The Badge became an educational initiative of Out To Protect Incorporated.  100% of all proceeds earned from the sale of both books goes toward funding our programs and scholarships.

Want To Get Involved?

Our scholarships are funded entirely by private donations. We depend on the generosity of individuals who believe in our mission. Gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender recruits are still very much a minority and they need our support. You can help to support the future of law enforcement by making a donation today. No amount is too small to make a big difference.

You can also help us spread the word about our grants and scholarship opportunities. Tell your local police academy, law enforcement agency, or association about our scholarship program and ask them to inform their students. Post the link to this website on your social networking sites and “like” us on Facebook.
